Health Testing & Cardiac Screening
DNA-Tested and Cardiologist-Evaluated for Responsible Breeding
At Aristocatic Maine Coons, the health of our breeding cats is foundational to
every pairing we plan. All of our Kings and Queens undergo comprehensive health
screening in accordance with responsible Maine Coon breeding practices.
Each breeding cat is DNA tested for known genetic conditions relevant to the
Maine Coon breed, with results reviewed prior to inclusion in our program.
In addition, our Kings and Queens receive routine cardiac screening through
echocardiograms performed by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist at
CVC Cardiology.
These echocardiograms are used to screen for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM),
a condition known to affect Maine Coon cats. Only cats with acceptable cardiac
evaluations are retained for breeding.
Health documentation, including DNA test results and echocardiogram reports,
is linked within each King and Queen’s profile for transparency and verification.
